Covent Garden

Covent Garden is within the City of Westminster and the London Borough of Camden and it is widely hailed by tourists and locals alike as one of the city’s most vibrant villages. It is also one of London’s leading areas for shopping, culture and entertainment. It is situated in the heart of the West End and shares a border with lively Soho. The area is most famous for the beautiful Victorian covered marketplace in the central piazza, its retail provision offering both high street and designer brands as well as independent boutiques, extensive number of restaurants and lively nightlife.  Entertainment options range from plays and musicals, to classical opera and ballet. The most iconic hotel in the area is The Savoy.

Similar to Soho, Covent Garden isn’t traditionally thought of as a residential area.  Most of Covent Garden’s homes are above commercial premises and apartments rather than houses, with many handsome mansion blocks, period conversions, and an increasing number of luxury new build developments. The best roads are considered to be those around the Piazza and in the adjacent streets King Street, Henrietta Street and Russell Street.

Buyers come from all over, the UK, Europe (especially Italy) and Southeast Asia. Most are after a second home to use as a London base, or because they have children at school or more likely for this location, university in the capital.  Covent Garden is seen as a good long-term investment.

Given its urban location, the village does not have much green space, with Lincoln’s Inn and Coram’s Fields being the largest and closest public parks (not in the immediate area) and Victoria Embankment Gardens on the river.
