Richmond upon Thames lies within the London Borough of Richmond in south west London. It is an affluent residential village bordering the river and home to Richmond Deer Park, which is the second largest park in London. Once home to royalty, it provides residents with a both a town and country feel and a very god sense of community. Famous residents include David Attenborough, Jerry Hall, Richard E Grant, Ronnie Wood and Mick Jagger, to name but a few.
Richmond has a varied housing stock including period properties, especially around The Green, Victorian detached and terrace houses and cottages as well as period conversions and modern flats. The most desirable roads are The Green, and the roads immediately off Richmond Hill, to include, Rosemont Road, Montague Road and The Hermitage.
Richmond offers a wide selection of shops including the well-known high street chains, boutiques, designer stores and also antique shops. Richmond also has a vibrant and popular riverside with numerous pubs and bars along its frontage.
Richmond is particularly popular amongst young families moving out of central London in want of a country village feel and excellent schools but still within close proximity to central London for commuting purposes.
Richmond offers a diverse range of sports. Richmond Athletic Ground is home to Richmond and London Scottish rugby clubs with Old Deer Park London Welsh’s home. The Stoop is home for Harlequins rugby, the home of rugby though is Twickenham. There is polo at Ham, cricket on The Green and both indoor and outdoor swimming in Old Deer Park. Tennis courts, bowling greens and numerous golf courses are also readily available in Richmond.
