St. John’s Wood

NW8

This is a very desirable area just to the north of Regent’s Park in north west London and situated within the City of Westminster and the London Borough of Camden. The area is well known for large houses, in many cases with large gardens. Avenue Road used to have the reputation as millionaires road and still retains a loyal following with wealthy international individuals. One of the main attractions to this area is the proximity to Regent’s Park, The American School and the super-chic area of Primrose Hill.

St. John’s Wood High Street which is the main shopping focus for the area is enjoying a renaissance, having been rather mediocre for many years. It now boasts a broad range of restaurants and shops, not only chains but also local offerings, in terms of boutiques and one-off restaurants.

The housing stock comprises Georgian and Victorian as well as 1920’s and also new build homes, most of which are substantial. The area has a number of portered mansion buildings, both old and more contemporary. It is also very well known for Lords Cricket Ground, the home of Middlesex Cricket Club.
